ST. LOUIS — Hollywood is in St. Louis as filming for a movie began Monday, in Maplewood. There will be parking restrictions, temporary street closures and more traffic than usual around St. Louis.

The movie “On Fire” will tell the story of John O’Leary, a St. Louis native who was burned on 100% of his body at the age of nine in a house fire. It is based on his 2016 best-selling book “On Fire: 7 choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life.”

Filming is taking place at several locations in St. Louis, including Busch Stadium, St. Louis University, O’Leary’s childhood home, Saratoga Lanes, among other locations.

Crews are expected to be in Maplewood Nov. 6-8.

Trucks and equipment can be seen in front of a house on Bellevue Ave. across from Spencer Marquart’s home in Maplewood Monday morning as this was a filming location for the movie.

“It’s quite the entourage with several trucks of equipment and busloads of people being dropped off,” Marquart said in a Facebook post.

Directed by Sean McNamara, the movie will star William H. Macy, John Corbett, Joel Courtney, Devon Franklin and Stephanie Szostak.

A casting call went out for extras interested in being part of the film. Filming is expected to last until early December.
