ST. LOUIS — For those who want to learn what to do in emergency situations, a free course is being offered through St. Louis Community College starting in September.

The Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) is an eight-week course taught by area first responders, according to a press release. Students will learn how to help their community in a crisis.

Topics will include fire safety, search and rescue, team dynamics and disaster medical operations with training in a full-scale disaster exercise, according to the press release.

Classes begin the week of Sept. 12. The course is free with a $9 registration fee.
