HERMANN, Mo.—There are new charged filed against the man accused of killing a Hermann Police Detective and shooting another officer in March. 

Kenneth Simpson was already facing first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a gun for shooting the officers at the Casey’s convenience store in Hermann while they were trying to arrest him on outstanding warrants. 

The Missouri Attorney General’s office was asked to assist the Gasconade Prosecuting Attorney. AG Bailey’s office has filed four more charges against Simpson: 

  • Another count of unlawful possession of a firearm counts

  • Unlawful possession, transport, manufacture, repair or sale of illegal weapon

  • Possession of a controlled substance

  • Resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony

“My primary focus will always be to protect the people of this state,” said Attorney General Bailey in a press release. “My office will continue to fight for justice and to honor those who put their lives on the line for us every.”

Griffith was 34-years-old and was also chief of the Rosebud Police Department. Officer Adam Sullentrup, 31, was severely injured and continues to recover from the shooting.
