ST. LOUIS — A historic church, converted into an indoor skate park in north St. Louis, was engulfed in flames early Thursday morning as firefighters worked to put out the fire.
More than 100 firefighters, paramedics, EMTS and Command Staff officers responded to a four alarm fire at Sk8 Liborius, located at 1850 Hogan Street, according to a tweet by the St. Louis Fire Department. No injuries were reported, according to a tweet by the St. Louis Fire Department.
Embers from that fire traveled north likely caused a vacant three-story building in the 1800 block of Warren to catch fire, according to a tweet by the St. Louis Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
The formerly abandoned historic St. Liborius Catholic Church was converted into an indoor skate park and was rebranded as Sk8 Liborius.
The owners of the property created a nonprofit in 2016 called Liborius Urban Studios with a mission to preserve the church and transform it into a multi-use center for youth, teens and adults.
The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
