ST. LOUIS — The Gateway Arch National Park will host a variety of new and returning free events this summer, including an 1860s-themed Fourth of July Ball.

The Fourth of July Ball is set for Tuesday, July 4, at noon, which will feature history performances, live music, and dances, according to a press release.

The event will kick off with Anne Williams reciting the Declaration of Independence by memory, followed by live music by the Independence Silver Band as Deborah Hyland will call dances for performers.

If someone owns 1860s-period clothing and would like to volunteer for the event, send an email to barbara_michel@nps.gov. For more information about the event, click here.

More summer programming by the Gateway Arch National Park and the Gateway Arch Park Foundation includes several ranger-led events, such as daily outdoor walking tours, daily indoor museum tours, daily St. Louis Riverfront Cruises narrated by a ranger, and other events such as Running with a Ranger, Coffee with a Ranger, Reading with a Ranger, Puppet Shows, and B.A.R.K. Ranger events.

Rockin’ the Riverfront is a new live music series that is now taking place every Friday and Saturday through July 29. In addition to live music, park visitors can enjoy lawn games and family activities.

The Gateway to the Stars series will return Friday, June 23, at 7 p.m. The series features a guest speaker sharing celestial knowledge, followed by telescope viewing of the night sky (weather permitting).

National Park Service fee-free day is Aug. 4.

The eighth annual Blues at the Arch Festival returns Aug. 11-12.

Park visitors also can participate in the Gateway Arch Wellness Challenge, Trails & Rails programs, Sunrise Yoga and Sunrise Bootcamp.
