ST. CHARLES, Mo. — After 30 years, the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department announced the permanent closure of the McNair Aquatic Facility.
In a Facebook post, the department said the aquatic facility has “major” functionality and infrastructure issues, including a recent substantial leak under the pool shell.
“Since the 2014 Aquatics Facility Audit leading to Prop P and rebuilding Blanchette and Wapelhorst Facilities, we were able to get 9 more years of life from the McNair Facility before having to close the doors,” the post states.
The department is asking residents to share new amenity ideas for the 2.5 acre-park as discussions are in the works. Plans for the park will be announced later this year, according to the post.
