ST. LOUIS — Andy Cohen, St. Louis native and award-winning producer, host and author, received his star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame Friday evening.
Crowds of fans gathered outside Moonrise Hotel where the induction took place. A ragtime band played music for people as they waited for Cohen. The ceremony was free and open to the public.
As Cohen made his entrance with his family, fans cheered, applauded and shouted "I love you, Andy!"
"There's no place like home," Cohen said. "And there's no place like legendary strip in U City, The Loop, right here in St. Louis, my home town."
He talked about his childhood memories coming to The Loop, including one of his favorite places, Blueberry Hill.
"Man have I spent a lot of nights at Blueberry Hill and man have I stumbled out of Blueberry Hill a time or two," he said.
Not only does Cohen love St. Louis, but he said he also loves representing his hometown every night on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" with his memorabilia.
Cohen graduated from Clayton High School, and during his speech, he gave thanks to his vice principal for opening the door to his television career. She told him about an internship opportunity at Channel 4 when was 17 years old.
That opportunity "made a huge impact on me." Before moving to "the big city," Cohen said he also worked for KMOX Radio.
Cohen additional thanked his family, fans, his assistant, supporters, the ragtime band, and Edwards, for his star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame.
Fans had an opportunity afterward to get photos and meet Cohen. The St. Louis Walk of Fame is located along six blocks of The Delmar Loop that features more than 150 stars who are from the St. Louis area and have made cultural contributions to the country.
On Saturday, Cohen will be debuting his latest book, “The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up,” at the Jewish Community Center.
Cohen is best known for his late-night TV talk show “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” and his production of the reality TV franchise “The Real Housewives” on the Bravo channel.
Over the course of his career, Cohen has had several Emmy nominations for his production work on reality shows such as “Project Greenlight,” “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy,” “Project Runway,” and programs about Kathy Griffin.
In 2010, he won an Emmy for his executive producer work on “Top Chef.” He received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022.
“He and CNN’s Anderson Cooper co-hosted the network’s highly-rated New Year’s Eve shows and toured the country together,” according to the St. Louis Walk of Fame website.
“Andy Cohen created two SiriusXM radio channels, and his sense of humor and refreshingly authentic personality vaulted his multiple books onto the bestseller list.”
