ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo–The newest Bass Pro Shops location opens Wednesday night in Sunset Hills with a series of events to celebrate the new 93,000 square-foot “destination retail experience.”

The store at 3600 South Lindbergh location had originally been scheduled to open in time for the holiday shopping season late last fall but was delayed when plans for the development expanded.

The store features a 14,000 gallon aquarium, and what the store says are thousands of antique artifacts. The store will employ roughly 145 “Outfitters”.

Wednesday’s 6:00 p.m. grand opening ceremony includes a meet and greet with former St. Louis Cardinals Manager Whitey Herzog, former “Angler of the Year” winners Roland Martin and Kevin VanDam and Drury Outdoors founders Terry, Mark and Matt Drury.

Our partners at The St. Louis Business Journal reported an event permit for Wednesday night's festivities also include an appearance from Bass Pro Shops owner Johnny Morris for a 6:30 p.m. ribbon cutting.

Characters from the Nick Jr. program ‘Paw Patrol’ will also be there to take pictures with kids.

The store is offering merchandise discounts as part of the event as well as what the store says is $20,000 in giveaways and sweepstakes prizes

Starting Thursday, daily prizes include up to $500 in gift cards for the first 100 families in the store, Bass Pro-branded tumblers and trucker hats.   

The Sunset Hills Police Department said that parking on the store lot will be limited Wednesday because of the opening day activities and that overflow parking will be available nearby at Sunset Hills Plaza.

The store will be open for special hours Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
