ST. LOUIS–St. Louis City SC looks to get back into the win column Saturday night on the road against Seattle and to continue the hottest start for an expansion team in MLS history

Saturday is also the day The Missouri Historical Society opens a special exhibit at the Missouri History Museum saluting soccer’s history here. Opening day events for the “Soccer City” exhibit include a ribbon cutting with Lori Chalupny, Head Coach of women’s soccer at Maryville University and a former member of the U.S. National team, and others. Plans also call for a pep rally, Spanish-English soccer storytime and a soccer workshop, all starting at 10am at the 

The exhibit features jerseys and other artifacts worn by St. Louis natives who have played the game at the highest levels, both professionally and internationally over the last 75 years and beyond.

“This isn’t a new phenomenon for St. Louis. We’ve been a soccer city for 150 years, with a long legacy of talent and passion fueling the world’s most popular sport,” said Sam Moore, Managing Director of Public History for the Missouri Historical Society. “This exhibit honors these famous St. Louis soccer players for their dedication and commitment to the growth of the sport. We hope fans of both soccer and our city will realize the contribution these history-making men and women have made not just to the game of soccer but to also boost the profile of the city of St. Louis.”
