ST. LOUIS — As the Cardinals home opener is Thursday, Ballpark Village has been gearing up for the 2023 season with new restaurants underway and fan experiences ready for visitors.

Three new restaurants, totaling more than 20,000-square-feet, will open at Ballpark Village, such as Koibito Poké on March 29, Katie’s Pizza + Pasta Osteria in April and Condado Tacos in June.

Katie’s Pizza at BPV will be its largest location at 10,000-square-feet with a private dining room, party room, retail and to-go area, according to Mike Lamartina, chief operating officer for Ballpark Village.

He added that the new restaurant’s design is “awesome” because of owner Katie Collier’s meticulous and intentional work.

Condado Tacos at BPV will be the first location in Missouri.

“We’re excited to welcome not only to Ballpark Village, but to Missouri,” Lamartina said.

Koibito Poké was co-founded by former Cardinals pitcher Todd Stottlemyre who played on the team for two years in the late 90s. The Arizona-based poke restaurant at BPV will be its second location in the St. Louis area.

“We’re not only excited to bring a Cardinal back to St. Louis, but also open up a new, fun restaurant,” Lamartina said.

Additionally, Cardinals Nation recently unveiled a new menu design and menu items, including a pork tenderloin sandwich, Mediterranean salad, southwest bowl, brunch burger, pulled-pork sandwich, fried catfish, Cajun salmon, red velvet gooey butter cake by Gooey Louie, and ice cream nachos.

Director of Hospitality for the Cardinals Nate Green said he is looking forward to a fun, lively atmosphere at Cardinals Nation and seeing fans in their red attire.

“Cardinals baseball brings so many people downtown,” he said. “It becomes a better place for the staff to work; the baseball season is what the staff is here for as well.”

Green mentioned that Cardinals Nation had its “best year ever” in 2022 and he is looking forward to building upon that.
