ST. LOUIS–From just about the day the XFL confirmed that Anthony Becht would be the head coach for the St. Louis Battlehawks, he’s pushed the idea of #fillthedome or #fillthetop when it comes to home attendance at The Dome at America’s Center.
Now, what was interrupted by the pandemic is getting closer to reality three years later.
Friday morning the Battlehawks and the XFL announced plans to open up seating in the 300 level at The Dome, following a second-consecutive fourth quarter comeback to win on the road Thursday night against the Seattle Sea Dragons.
St. Louis overcame a 12-0 deficit in the 2nd quarter, took the lead in the fourth quarter on a 44-yard touchdown from A.J. McCarron to Hakeem Butler, then sealed the victory with a 44-yard field goal by Donald Hageman as time expired.
The Battlehawks stay on the road next week against the D.C. Defenders next Sunday before the team’s home opener March 12 in St. Louis against Arlington.
