St. Louis area roads are icy Monday morning as a wintry mix pushes through the area. As of 6:30 a.m., the EB I-44 exit to I-270 is closed. It's also a slow go on other area interstates.
Many area schools have cancelled class for the day or are having virtual lessons.
Sunday night, the slick roads led to crashes and several interstate closures, including a jack-knifed tractor trailer on I-64 that had the eastbound lanes closed for hours.
Road crews were out across the region overnight treating the roads. St. Louis County Transportation Department posted on Twitter this morning that a fresh band of sleet and freezing rain moved in around 3 a.m. and pavement is less than optimal.
The wintry mix will be moving through the area until Monday morning so the conditions may remain slick overnight. You can check the MoDOT map for road conditions here.
