ST. LOUIS–With the legal sale of adult-use recreational marijuana set to begin next month, dozens of county and local municipalities in the St. Louis region are ready to ask voters April 4 for permission to collect a 3% sales tax on the product, as allowed under the constitutional amendment voters approved statewide in November.

Here is the known list of municipalities in the St. Louis region which submitted marijuana-related ballot questions by the Jan. 24 deadline.

  • City of St. Louis

  • In addition to a countywide question in St. Louis County, municipalities within the county including Ballwin, Berkeley, Brentwood, Bridgeton, Charlack, Clayton, Crestwood, Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Ellisville, Ferguson, Florissant, Frontenac, Glendale, Flordell Hills, Hazelwood, Manchester, Maryland Heights, Normandy, Northwoods, Oakland, Olivette, Overland, Pacific, Richmond Heights, Rock Hill, Shrewsbury, St. Ann, Sunset Hills, University City, Valley Park, Velda City, Warson Woods and Webster Groves will also have marijuana sales tax questions.

  • In addition to a countywide question for St. Charles County, St. Peters and O’Fallon will have marijuana sales tax questions. A complete list in St. Charles County was not available prior to publication.

  • In Jefferson County, the cities of Festus, Herculaneum, Hillsboro and Pevely will ask for a 3% sales tax for adult use marijuana.

  • In addition to a countywide question for Lincoln County voters, the cities of Moscow Mills, Troy and Winfield will also have it on the ballot.

While some cities and counties have ballot language specifically earmarking the potential funds, most have not designated it on the ballot.
