ST. LOUIS– Less than than two weeks after his third arrest for driving while intoxicated, Dan McLaughlin and Bally Sports have announced that the broadcaster will not return to the network, where he is best known for being the voice of the St. Louis Cardinals.

A statement released by Bally Sports and the Cardinals said in part, “Dan has been the voice of memorable Cardinals moments for 24 years. We thank him for his contributions to Cardinals baseball, to Cardinals fans, and for his many charitable efforts.”

McLaughlin was arrested by Creve Coeur Police Dec. 4 after the department took separate reports of a driver who the callers suspected was impaired. McLaughlin’s car was stopped on Interstate 270 where he was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

He was charged as a persistent offender, a felony, due to two previous convictions.

“I have spent the last several days reflecting on my next steps towards addressing my health and the well-being of my family and me. I have come to the conclusion that my sole focus needs to be on my recovery, which I have started, and that of my wife and children,” McLaughlin said in a statement released by Bally Sports Midwest. “As I move forward, I please ask for your patience and your privacy. Thank you. God Bless.”

He’s due in St. Louis County Court on Feb. 7, 2023. McLaughlin is free on bond.
