ST. LOUIS – Sweetie Pie’s is closing its last local soul food location on Delmar. The announcement, which came on Facebook, states the closure is to make room for the expansion of the John Cochran Veterans Hospital.

Sweetie Pie’s Upper Crust will close Sunday, September 25 at 6 p.m until further notice. The restaurant was featured for nine years in the reality show “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.”

Owner Robbie Montgomery and the Sweetie Pie’s Family thanked everyone for their support over the past 25 years. The post also says they hope to have an opportunity to serve the community again in the future.

The announcement comes just days after Montgomery’s son was found guilty in a murder-for-hire plot involving the death of her grandson in 2016.

Two other area locations have closed in recent years. The family says it will keep its Jackson, Mississippi location.
