JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Flash flooding overnight led to dozens of water rescues in Jefferson and Madison counties. The hardest hit area was Romaine Creek Rd and Highway 141 in Jefferson County. That area saw 7.92 inches of rain since midnight.
The county’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is asking people to contact them if they experienced property damage. Warren Robsinson, the OEM director, said he will head out to that area later Thursday morning to see how high the water got into homes.
In Madison County, Missouri, the Fredericktown Fire Department helped rescue 21 people from flood waters. The flash flooding impacted the Holmes Subdivision as well as homes along the Saline Creek. First responders also had to rescue people stranded in vehicles due to the high water, downed trees and powerlines.
