ST. LOUIS – Drivers using I-70 in north St. Louis and I-55 in south St. Louis County may want to consider detours this weekend as MoDOT closes part of the interstates for road work. MoDOT says drivers going between Missouri and Illinois are strongly encouraged to use I-270 or I-255.
I-55 Closure
All lanes and ramps of I-55 between Reavis Barracks and Bayless will be closed to remove a pedestrian bridge. The closure will start at 8 p.m. Friday. All lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 20.
There are detours for the north and southbound traffic and drivers using Lemay Ferry, Reavis Barracks, Bayless, Gravois and Mackenzie could experience delays in these areas. MoDOT says drivers may want to consider using I-270 as an alternative.
I-70 Closure
MoDOT will also be closing the westbound lanes of I-70 between Carrie and West Florissant Avenue to complete girder repairs to the Taylor Avenue Bridge. That work is expected to start around 8 p.m. Friday.
The ramps from I-70 to West Florissant will be closed as will the entrance ramps from Adelaide and Carrie to the interstate.
