WILDWOOD, Mo. – The body of a missing hiker was found Monday evening at the Flamm City Boat Ramp along the Meramec River in Arnold. St. Louis County Police say the body has been identified as 72-year-old Carol Schulte.

Schulte disappeared on May 23 from Al Foster Memorial Trailhead in Wildwood. About 100 volunteers searched for her last Tuesday.

Her stepson, Greg Schulte, said Carol was a bus driver for the Rockwood School District and was supposed to go into work on the day she went missing. He also said her phone was turned off around 7:04 a.m. Monday morning.

“It was just absolutely heartwarming to see the community. It brings out the best, everybody pulled together. We didn’t get the results that we wanted, but it wasn’t because we didn’t try," Schulte said following Tuesday's search.

The Tails on Trails-STL meetup group took part in the search last week. The group posted about her disapperance and said Schulte knows the trail well and wouldn’t normally go wandering off the trail.
