BALLWIN, Mo. – A prominent west St. Louis County park could be in for a large facelift over the next decade depending on a board of aldermen vote next month.

The city of Ballwin has been taking input on the future of Vlasis Park, roughly 30 acres located off Manchester Road near Holloway Road. The campus has seen changes in recent years, with a new city administration building which opened in 2019. The former home for city operations, which sits closer to Manchester Road, will be replaced by an apartment complex. The city’s police department is moving from a location inside the park to Kehr’s Mill and Ballpark Drive.

The park hosts the city’s annual Ballwin Days festival, bringing as many as 60,000 visitors alone to the property over a single weekend.

Among the items included in an updated Master Plan up for consideration:

  • New playground equipment and splash pad

  • Stage, pavilion and nature play area

  • Pond rehab

  • New Public Works building

The Master Plan would cost $7.4 million in today’s dollars, but the projects would be phased in over a decade, instead of being done all at once.

The Ballwin Board of Aldermen meets twice each month, but the specific May meeting where the plan will be debated and voted on has not been announced.
