ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Gas prices have jumped about 30 cents per gallon in the last month and everyone is looking for a way to save some money. There is a new tool to help you save on the 2.5 cent gas tax increase that went into place in October 2021.

Under the new law, drivers can receive a refund if they save their gas receipts and submit them to the state. The NoMOGasTax app helps drivers keep track of their transactions.

The app allows drivers to upload gas receipts and enter the details required by the State of Missouri for the full refund from the Department of Revenue. Drivers must file the rebate between July 1 and September 30 of each year.

The NoMOGasTax app is only available for Apple products and has a onetime fee of $4.99.

Missouri’s gas tax is 19.5 cents after the 2.5 cent increase in October 2021. The tax will continue to increase 2.5 cents a year until it hits 29.5 cents in 2025. It was the first time in 25 years the state’s gas tax increased.

Once fully implemented, the gas tax hike could generate more than $500 million annually for state, county and city roads. But it’s unclear how much of that governments will get to keep after some people request refunds.
