KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A new baseball season means more ballpark fare options at the “K”.

On Monday the Royals and Aramark Sports and Entertainment previewed new food items available on the menu, beginning opening day.

From Korean barbecue to a new tempura battered and fried Sluggerrr Dog, there’s something for everybody.

Royals Senior Vice President Jason Sinnarajah says it’s important to keep things fresh.

“During nine innings, nobody just sits in their seats. They go for a beer…they get some food. We want different offerings that cater to everyone’s different tastes.”

Despite all the new options, one local favorite highlighted the event. For the first time, Joe’s Kansas City will be available in Kauffman Stadium. Joe’s is offering both its brisket and chicken Z-Man sandwiches in right field.

Aramark Manager Corby Stephens says the iconic item’s place in the ballpark is by design. “We expect (to sell) at least three to five hundred sandwiches a game. So, we’re making sure by doing that, we’re not blocking someone from getting a hot dog with ease.”

In addition to variety, affordability is also an area of focus for concessions.

Like last season, the Royals will offer a value menu which features five-dollar beers, four-dollar hot dogs, and three-dollar popcorn, pretzels, and sodas.

The team will also continue “Dollar Dog Night” during Tuesday home games.
