A Springfield, Mo., man has been charged with a Class D felony for stealing more than $17,000 worth of merchandise from a South St. Louis County business he once worked for.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, Elijah Bishop, a store owner himself, allegedly took multiple sets of gaming cards and other merchandise from Forge and Fire before selling them via accounts on Facebook.

Police say the victim contacted authorities after discovering Bishop was stealing, revealed by an open computer Bishop used at the business which showed the transactions made involving the stolen products on Facebook.

Bishop allegedly admitted to his employer at Forge and Fire that he stole the merchandise and pocketed the proceeds.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was $17,474.

A county judge issued a criminal summons for Bishop, and he is set to appear in St. Louis County court on September 23.
