Investigators have ruled the death of a Massachusetts man found dead in Palmyra a homicide.
Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday reporting a shooting at a residence at 531 Madawaska Road in Palmyra, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
Somerset County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to find Jaquan Humphries, 28, of Mattapan, Massachusetts, deceased inside the home, Moss said.
An autopsy by the chief medical examiner’s office determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to Moss.
“At this time, there is no known danger to the public,” Moss said. “The investigation remains ongoing.”
