A New Jersey man was killed Sept. 30 when the motorcycle he was riding struck a moose in an unincorporated area south of Baxter State Park.

State police responded to the crash at about 7 p.m. at mile marker 240 in T2 R9, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Anand Sreedharan, 50, of Princeton, New Jersey, was southbound when the moose crossed into Sreedharan’s lane and was struck, the release stated. Sreedharan died of his injuries.

The moose was also killed.

The Maine State Police was assisted by multiple agencies. The crash remains under investigation.
