Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a motorist they say struck a motorcyclist in Portland.

Police responded to a crash Monday at 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Brighton Avenue and St. John Street, according to a statement from spokesperson Brad Nadeau.

“A 36-year-old male was riding his motorcycle westbound on Brighton Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he laid the motorcycle down,” Nadeau said.

A car eastbound on Brighton Avenue turned left onto Noyes Street, struck the motorcyclist and fled, Nadeau said.

The motorcyclist was transported to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating but have not filed charges. On X, formerly Twitter, police said they were looking for a silver Honda Fit that may have been involved in the crash.
