The remains of a missing Windham man have been located in New Hampshire.

The remains of Alex Jackson, 34, were discovered after a search in Stark, New Hampshire, on April 19, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Over the weekend, New Hampshire’s chief medical examiner identified the remains.

Jackson’s family reported him missing in May 2023.

The cause of death is not being released, however, a Leeds man was charged with murder in connection with the death late last month, before the remains were discovered.

Following a nearly year-long investigation, Joseph Chute, 30, was arrested March 29 and charged with murder, according to an earlier news release.

“Chute was arrested Friday evening without incident and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he is being held without bail,” the release stated.

Chute was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Androscoggin County Superior Court on April 1.

The department of public safety has not released further information.
