Police are investigating a fatal crash first reported last week in Wayne, but initial reports indicate it was a single-vehicle crash.

“No other parties are believed to be involved at this time,” Maine State Police said in a statement.

Police first learned of the accident on Oct. 6 at about 8:11 a.m. when someone passing by the area of 207 Main St. in Wayne called 911 to report a vehicle had gone off the road. Police said the vehicle’s driver, Taylor Perkins, 31, of Augusta, was dead at the scene.

Police said Perkins was driving “overnight or in the early morning hours” when she “left the roadway resulting in an impact that Perkins in the vehicle deceased.” 

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
