State elections officials will conduct recounts for nine Maine House races and two Senate races starting on Friday.
While Democrats appear to hold majorities in both the House and Senate, several of the races were decided by less than 1%, according to data released by the Secretary of State’s Office.
That includes one tie in House District 141, where Democrat Patricia Kidder and Republican Rep. Lucas Lanigan each received 2,476 votes on election night. Both live in Sanford.
In October, Lanigan was arrested on a domestic violence aggravated assault charge. However, during a court appearance Oct. 30, his partner made a statement denying that the assault had occurred. Lanigan is scheduled to return to court in March and plans to fight the charge, his attorney told the Associated Press.
That recount is set for 1 p.m. Nov. 21. All recounts are open to the public and will be held in the Florian Room at 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta.
