President Donald Trump has endorsed former NASCAR driver Austin Theriault in his race for the 2nd Congressional District Republican nomination.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Theriault will “work hard to Secure the Border, Protect our always under siege Second Amendment, Stop Crime, Cut Taxes, and Support our Brave Law Enforcement, Military and Veterans.”

Theriault, 30, a Fort Kent state representative, released a statement thanking Trump for the support.

“This is about fighting for Mainers who don’t have a voice, and I’m excited to be working with another proven champion to Save America!” he said.

Theriault, who has more than 10,000 followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, updated his background on the platform to say “endorsed by President Trump.”

Theriault is facing state Rep. Mike Soboleski (R-Phillips) for the Republican nomination in the June 11 primary.

The winner will run against U.S. Rep. Jared Golden (D-2nd District) in November.
