A memorial service will be held Wednesday for the Maine State Police dog that was killed in the line of duty last week in Aroostook County.
K-9 Preacher was shot as police tried to apprehend a suspect following a standoff in Portage on Feb. 3.
A deputy was wounded and the suspect killed in the incident.
The service takes place at 11 a-m at The Point Community Center in South Portland, according to preacher’s handler, Maine State Police Sergeant Jonathan Russell.
