The University of Southern Maine will be offering three full scholarships to young women in the Middle East, with the goal of building relationships through education.
The scholarship program is a partnership with the Daughters for Life Foundation, a Canadian charity that prides itself on educating young women in the Middle East.
"The Foundation's work is vital for women from the Middle East,” said USM President Jacqueline Edmondson. “Empowerment through education serves not only the women themselves but also their families, communities, and the world at large.”
The scholarship will only be offered to young women from the Middle East who are residents and citizens of the region and who are looking to receive an education in Europe or North America. Each scholarship will cover on-campus housing, meal plan and health insurance for the program's length.
Applications for the scholarship will open in November and close in January 2025.
