A new partnership between the Maine Department of Labor and United States Postal Service will allow Mainers to verify their identities for unemployment benefit purposes.
The announcement was made on Thursday, Oct. 24 by the Department of Labor.
More than 200 Maine post offices across the state are participating in this program.
The Department of Labor says residents can verify their identities online, but this new option allows the verification process to be done at a local post office.
Anyone who participates in this new option will receive instructions from the Department of Labor and a unique code. Residents will need to bring in the code and forms of identification to the post office, the department says.
Participating post offices can be found on the United States General Service Administration’s website.
