A community gathering is planned to mark the one-year anniversary of the mass shootings in Lewiston on Oct. 25 at the Colisee in Lewiston.

On Oct. 25, 2023, a shooter killed 18 people and wounded 13 more at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant and Just-In-Time Recreation.

The gathering will be hosted by the One Lewiston Resilience Fund Committee in partnership with the city of Lewiston, Maine Resilience Center and the Lewiston-Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

There will be music, other performances and a discussion about plans for a permanent memorial.

Organizers say attendees can bring small items that can be contributed to a memorial.

There will be quiet viewing spaces and therapists will be on hand if helpful. There will also be American Sign Language interpretation at the program and be live streamed with closed captions.

The Colisee is located at 190 Birch St. in Lewiston.

The event will be free and open to all, with the doors opening at 5 p.m. and the program starting at 6 p.m. There will be accessible parking on-site and shuttles provided to the southern parking garage at 425 Lisbon St.
