The Lewiston bowling alley that was the site of a mass shooting in October will reopen May 3, according to the Just-in-Time Recreation Facebook page.

The page teased the reopening date Tuesday, saying “more details to come soon.”

The bowling alley is staffing up too, posting five days ago that they are looking to hire part-time mechanics and part-time kitchen help.

The bowling alley and Schemengees Bar &Grille were the sites of a mass shooting Oct. 25 that claimed the lives of 18 and wounded 13.

Following the shooting, victims and their families have received an outpouring of support, including from former Gov. Paul LePage, who grew up in Lewiston.

LePage and his wife Ann raised $474,702 to benefit the victims and families, LePage posted to Facebook on Tuesday.

“In the months that have passed, Maine has grieved the loss of our friends and neighbors,” LePage wrote. “Although the grief is not gone, we do hope that these funds provide some much-needed relief for the victims and families.”
