Over 8,000 electric customers across the state were without power as of 3 p.m. down from 17,000 at noon Saturday.

Most of the outages are in Aroostook County which had over 3,800 customers impacted as of 3 p.m.  There were 6,000 outages at 12 p.m.

Somerset County has over a thousand reported outages as of mid afternoon. 

The National Weather Service said winds have been blowing 15 to 25 m.p.h. out of the northwest with gusts reaching 50 m.p.h.

The weather service said gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, especially in higher elevations and will cause downed tree limbs.

Winds are expected to subside and a high wind warning will expire at 4 p.m. Saturday.
