Police have identified the three people killed in a Nov. 29 fatal car crash involving a wrong-way driver on the Maine Turnpike in Portland.
According to police, Brandon Crawford-Adams, 23, of Old Orchard Beach, was driving a gray 2018 Honda Civic near exit 48 at about 9:40 p.m. Police said he was headed south in the northbound lane “at a high rate of speed” when he struck a black 2013 Toyota Rav4 head-on.
“Upon impact, both vehicles caught on fire and became fully engulfed,” police said.
Both Crawford-Adams and his passenger, Julia Chapdelaine, 22, of Dudley, Mass. were pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed was the Rav4’s driver, whom police identified as Alpha Anastacio, 33, of Portland. There was no one else in the car with Anastacio, police said.
The initial investigation indicated before the fatal collision, Crawford-Adams also struck a silver 2020 Ford F150 pickup truck that was heading north. Police said the pickup’s driver, who was not identified, was not injured.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
