A Biddeford woman was arrested Friday night in New York City in the attempted murder of another woman in connection with a shooting Tuesday in Saco, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
At about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Saco police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 103 Temple St., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
In an updated release Friday evening, Moss said Maine State Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Ariana Tito of Biddeford for the "attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault" of 32-year-old Kayla Grant of Saco who was identified as the woman shot Tuesday.
Detectives from the Maine State Police, Saco Police Department, Biddeford Police Department, Old Orchard Police Department, New York City Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, DEA and FBI worked throughout the week to locate Tito.
Task force agents with the FBI located Tito in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday and took her into custody, Moss said.
Tito was transported to Rikers Island and will make her initial court appearance in Brooklyn, where extradition to Maine will be determined, according to Moss.
Grant remains in "critical but stable condition," the release stated Friday.
