A Deering High School science teacher is being honored for demonstrating integrity, service and excellence.

Cyle Davenport is one of 10 educators from across New England to win an inaugural Air and Space Force Sentry Educator Award, according to a press release from Portland Public Schools.

“This award is our way of embracing our partners in academia and recognizing them for developing our nation’s future and embodying our shared values of Integrity, Service and Excellence in all we do,” Chief Master Sgt. Gervacio Maldonado, the 319th Recruiting Squadron superintendent, said in a statement.
