A Maine game warden and his K-9 on Monday found a missing 74-year-old Etna man who had been lost in the woods for nearly 30 hours.
Joseph Nolin was unable to move, hypothermic and dehydrated when he was found about a mile from his home at the edge of Etna Bog, according to the Maine Warden Service.
He had spent the night in the woods in temperatures that dipped below freezing.
K-9 Luna and Game Warden Michael Latti were searching the bog when Luna signaled she was on to something. They found Nolin about 1:45 p.m. and after an examination, he was released to his family.
Nolin had gone into the woods to check his game cameras about 8:45 a.m. Sunday and when he didn’t return by 7 p.m., his son reported him missing, according to the warden service.
Etna is a Penobscot County town about 20 miles west of Bangor.
