Happy Earth Day!
Monster Truck Nitro Tour
7:30 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland
Experience the thrill of watching a monster truck navigate extreme obstacles Friday and Saturday at the Cross Insurance Arena. Make an evening out of it and get access to the pit party, where you can get close to the trucks and meet the drivers for an additional fee. Earth Day Work Day
9 a.m.-3 p.m. at MOFGA’s Common Ground Education Center in Unity
Celebrate Earth Day with the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association as it gets ready for the upcoming growing season during a spring cleanup. Learn about mulching and work in the orchard while enjoying some fresh air and the company of the MOFGA community. All ages are welcome to this free event. Event organizers will provide lunch and offer a selection of T-shirts for volunteers. For more information, visit the association’s website.
Outdoor Yoga at the Horse Shelter
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals in Windham
Learn how the MSSPA provides refuge and rehabilitation for horses while enjoying a relaxing outdoor yoga session with Ashley Flowers Yoga. You’ll begin with a 30-minute guided tour of the farm that ends with yoga in the fields, weather permitting. Event organizers hope attendees find a “deep sense of harmony and healing” among the horses at the center. The class is $20 per person and open to all experience levels. Earth Day Cleanup
1-4 p.m. at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta
Volunteer for an Earth Day cleanup event by helping clear litter, invasive species and brush at the Viles Arboretum. Come alone or bring the whole family to participate in the event. It’s a great opportunity for students looking to fulfill volunteer hours. For directions to the center, click here.
Fishing Poles for Kids
9 a.m.- Noon at Norway Lake
Head to the Norway Lake boat launch Saturday for a day of free fishing. There will be poles for kids to use, along with worms and shiners. There will only be 60 fishing poles, so make sure to get there early. For more information and directions, click here.
Trek Across Maine Training Ride
1 p.m. at Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick
Join fellow trekkers for a training ride starting at 1 p.m. at Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick. There will be two rides happening simultaneously, a shorter route and a longer route. The short route will run roughly 15 miles and the longer one will cover 23 miles. Don’t want to cycle? Make it an afternoon and hang out with the team until 4 p.m. and play cornhole at the brewery. Flight Deck is offering wood-fired pizza and craft beer for happy hour. Register online on Eventbrite.
Live Music: High Tea
7-9 p.m. at Maine Craft Distillery in Portland
Enjoy an evening of cocktails and live music as Maine Craft Distillery welcomes indie-folk duo High Tea. Hailing from Boston, the band is described as a “concoction of sweepingly soulful harmonies and guitar riffs to knock your socks off.” Tickets can be purchased in advance on Eventbrite.

Great Maine Bike Swap
11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the University of Southern Maine in Lewiston
Need a new set of wheels? Head to USM’s Lewiston campus for a consignment-style bike sale. From gently used road bikes to retro cruisers, kids bikes, mountain bikes, gravel-grinders, tandems, recumbent — you name it, they’ve got it at the swap. Have a bike you’d like to sell? Bikes can be registered to sell for the Lewiston swap online. I don’t know why you’d have this many bikes laying around, but event organizers say anyone can sell up to 20 bikes — you just need to submit a separate form and $5 registration fee per bike. Learn to Make Body Lotion & Lip Balm
1-3 p.m. at the Lally Broch Farm in Frankfort
Learn how to make your own body lotion and vegan lip balm during this hands-on workshop hosted by Lally Broch Farm. You’ll receive step-by-step instruction on how to make your own custom lotions and balms. Each person will take home a refillable 16 oz bottle of lotion, a container of lip balm and a booklet with the recipes made during the class. Comedian Bob Marley
5:30-7 p.m. at the Clambake in Scarborough
Get ready for a night of ‘wicked’ good jokes with Bob Marley as he hits the stage in Scarborough this Sunday. I’ve seen his shows a handful of times and I promise you’ll be holding back tears after laughing so hard. Tickets are $36 and are available for purchase on Eventbrite.
