PORTLAND — Mercy Hospital is ready to open its new emergency room.

The Portland hospital's emergency room at its Fore River campus will open for business on Tuesday. On the same day, the hospital's old emergency room on State Street closes.

It's the final clinical program to move from the State Street hospital, marking the final step in its campus consolidation.

The State Street hospital has been sold and will be transformed into mixed-use project with housing and commercial components, officials said.
