Here are 10 events happening this weekend:

Friday

Áróra: Tales of the Northern Lights
7-8 p.m. at Versant Power Astronomy Center in Orono
Learn about the phenomena of the auroras during an immersive presentation. This cinematic adventure invites audience members to join in the dance of these wonderful lights over Icelandic landscapes. Cider Pairings at the Tasting Room
2-5 p.m. at Portersfield Cider
Enjoy dry, lightly sparkling and richly-flavored ciders that go best with local food and good company. Take in the beauty of a Maine winter at the farm and tasting room in Pownal, less than 10 minutes from downtown Freeport. Reservations are required, so click here to secure your seat. 

Saturday

Maine Makers Home Store Event 
10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the L.L.Bean Home Store in Freeport
Enjoy a unique holiday shopping experience at the L.L.Bean Home Store, located next to Discovery Park. This daylong event features Maine-made products, local food, demos and activities for the whole family. You’re sure to find something special — and local — for everyone on your list. Beginner Tap Dancing Class for Grownups
10-11 a.m. via Zoom
Ever wanted to learn how to tap dance? From the comfort of your home, learn the basics in a relaxed setting that is sure to get you moving. Tap shoes and experience are not required for this virtual event, though leather-soled or smooth-soled shoes are recommended if you don’t have tap shoes. Tickets for the live virtual class are $12. Can’t make it Saturday? Pay for the class and stream it later at your convenience. Register online on Lindy Maine’s website to secure your spot.

Demo Day
8 a.m.-Noon at Sunday River Resort in Newry 
Need some new skis? Test out the latest equipment from top brands at Sunday River this weekend. To register, you need a valid lift ticket or season pass, driver’s license, credit card and your boots and equipment. Those who participate in Demo Day will get a $50 credit towards any new in-stock ski purchase at Sunday River Sports this weekend. For event details and directions, click here

Nature Forest Therapy
10 a.m.- Noon at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester
Looking for a way to de-stress and connect to the natural world? Hughes Kraft, a certified forest therapy guide, has partnered with Pineland Farms to share his knowledge and appreciation of Maine’s forest in a guided walk. The walk is two-hours long, ample time to slow down and connect with nature and oneself. Tickets are $20. Advanced registration is required for this event. Click here to secure your place

Maine Women in the Arts Fine Art and Craft Show
10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, Kennebunk
From paintings to photographs and pottery, a variety of creations will be on display at the Maine Women in the Arts show. The objective of the show is to promote local female artists and their work. Original artwork will be on sale, as well as handmade crafts. Face masks are required to attend this free event. For more information about the show, click here

Author Talk: Historic Taverns and Tea Rooms of Maine
3-4:30 p.m. at Féile Restaurant and Pub in Wells
Take a journey through time and explore Maine’s historic taverns and tea rooms during this lecture with authors Kathy and Bill Kenny. Sponsored by the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit, learn about Maine’s rich history and the meeting places where political and societal changes occurred. Portland Trumpet Ensemble
3-4:30 p.m. at Meetinghouse Arts in Freeport
As part of Freeport’s Sparkle Festival weekend, enjoy a holiday concert by the Portland Trumpet Ensemble. The group includes players from all walks of life, including lawyers, educators, doctors and students who come together with a few goals in mind: to play the trumpet and have fun while doing it. Just Milk, DJ and Live Set 
4-7 p.m. at Oxbow Blending & Bottling in Portland
Just Milk creates experimental music that blends electronic and organic elements into a distinctive synth-pop sound. Combining original music with curated works from inspiring producers and singers, Just Milk’s sets are a combination of dark disco and dreamy folk vocals.
