Health inspection reports for restaurants, food trucks, public pools and other establishments are now available online, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday.

The Health Inspection Program website allows the public to see inspection violations within the past three years for places licensed and inspected by the state. When violations are found, the program tries to educate the owners and seek voluntary compliance.

The unannounced inspections are conducted by state and municipal inspectors. Establishments are allowed to correct the violations while the inspector is on site, according to the department.

Repeat violations or failure to correct violations may lead to fines and penalties.

Reports posted to the site include restaurants, take-out food vendors, mobile food vendors, lodging, B&B’s, campgrounds, youth camps, public pools/spas, tattooists, body piercers, micropigmentationists and electrologists.
