The Oxford County Fair ends Saturday, with country superstar Crystal Gayle taking the main stage at 5 p.m.

Today and tomorrow, the fair offers livestock competitions, games, rides and entertainment. Gayle, who was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2017 by her sister Loretta Lynn, is the entertainment headliner for this year’s fair, according to the fair website.

Admission on Friday is $8 per person, with children 5 and under getting in free and on Saturday, admission is $10 per person. There is no separate admission charge for the Crystal Gayle concert.

And while the Oxford fair is wrapping up, some of the state’s other marquee fairs are on the horizon.

The Farmington Fair starts Sunday and runs through Sept. 25, featuring the Maine State Championship Truck and Tractor Pull, a demolition derby and rides by Cushing Amusements. Admission is $8 Sunday-Thursday for those 12 and older and $4 for those 8-11. There is no admission charge for children 7 and under.

On Friday and Saturday, admission is $10 for those 12 and older, $5 for those 8-11, with no charge for those 7 and under.

The Cumberland County Fair is Sept. 26 through Oct. 2, featuring a professional rodeo company, harness racing, blacksmith demonstrations and rides. Admission is $12 for those 13 and older, with no charge for those 12 and under.

Also, the fair will offer a COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30 near Gate 8. The one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available.

And the Freyburg Fair is Oct. 3-10, featuring music each night Oct. 4-9, a flower show, antique tractor show, rides and vendors. Tickets are $12, with no charge for children 12 and under.
