The Maine Arts Commission is looking for veterans to submit their artwork for its upcoming Maine Veterans Art Exhibition.

According to the commission, the exhibition “provides a unique and powerful platform for Maine Veterans to showcase their artistic talents and share their personal experiences through visual art with the wider community.”

The exhibition will run from Oct. 8 to Feb. 28, 2025. The selected artwork will be exhibited at various locations throughout the State Capitol complex in Augusta.

Veterans interested in participating have until Sept. 28 to submit their artwork. Each Maine Veteran may submit up to two pieces of two-dimensional artwork.

Artists must also provide a brief statement about themselves, the subject matter and themes of their artwork.

Submissions will be reviewed the following day, and artists will be notified about whether they were selected by Sept. 30.

The Maine Arts Commission will also be hosting a celebratory ceremony on Nov. 13 honoring the selected veteran artists. There will also be an awards ceremony for veteran artists who have not received a Quilt of Valor, a handmade quilt given out by the Quilt of Valor Foundation to service members as a symbol of gratitude.
