A remaining suspect in the 2024 fatal shooting at Morrill’s Corner in Portland has turned himself in five months after an arrest warrant was issued, officials say.
Kristofer Haken, 46, of Londonderry, New Hampshire surrendered to New Hampshire authorities on Wednesday, according to Portland police.
“Haken was a fugitive for approximately six months evading law enforcement after the issuance of a November 8, 2024, arrest warrant,” police said in a statement.
Haken was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit elevated aggravated assault and two counts of elevated aggravated assault by Portland police, according to police.
On May 6, the U.S. Marshals Service obtained a federal arrest warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Haken is expected to be extradited to Maine.
The shooting occurred at 1100 Forest Ave. the night of July 30, 2024.
Susan McHugh, 54, of Gray died from a gunshot wound, according to police, and two others were reportedly injured.
Police locked down the area overnight during their investigation.
Aaron Karp of Naples was arrested on Aug. 8, 2024 and charged with murder. He was reportedly sentenced to five years in prison, saying he acted in self-defense.
The shooting reportedly occurred as a result of a conflict between two motorcycle clubs.
Other men being tried together in connection with the shooting are Kaleb A. Cidre of Windham, Jason J. Keenan of Bath, James D. Moody, of Bowdoin, Caleb S. Pelkey, of Portland, Nathan T. Walsh, 48, of Lewiston.
They have been each charged with elevated aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit elevated aggravated assault.
