One man has been arrested in San Diego, California, and charged in connection with the killing of a Virginia man in Edgecomb, officials say.

The body of William “Nate” Robinson of Austinville, Virginia, was discovered in a trash barrel in the Schmid Preserve on Old County Road Dec. 3, 2024, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

The state medical examiner’s office found that Robinson died of a gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide, Moss stated.

“Following an investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at 57 Conant Road in Turner on Dec. 12, 2024, where evidence discovered at the location linked 26-year-old Luke Krott of Edgecomb to the murder, and an arrest warrant was issued for him,” Moss stated.

Krott had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb but had left Maine, according to Moss. He was found Jan. 6 on a sailboat at a marina in San Diego, according to Moss.

“Krott is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge pending the extradition process to Maine, where he will face a murder charge,” Moss stated.

The investigation is ongoing.
