An Aroostook County man is facing charges that he allegedly targeted residents in Woodland with explosives, officials say.

State police arrested Joshua Brydon, 37, of Woodland on Oct. 12 on a warrant from state fire marshal investigators, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

“The arrest resulted from the culmination of an 18-month long investigation into incidents of improvised explosive devices and improvised incendiary devices being used to target multiple victims within the town of Woodland,” public safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a press release. “Several of the devices were dropped by UAS (drone), and others were placed or thrown by hand.”

Brydon is charged with two counts of stalking, five counts of arson and six counts of criminal use of explosives, according to Moss. He is also charged with attempted arson and endangering the welfare of a child.

State police and the FBI, ATF and Homeland Security assisted with the investigation.

Brydon is being held at Aroostook County Jail in Houlton pending his first court appearance.
