Police have identified the victim in a Waterville killing.

The chief medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Charles Bellows, 43, of Waterville.

Police began investigating a suspicious death the morning of August 18 at a residence at 119 Cool St., according to a news release from Maine State Police.

As a result, Thomas Lowrie, 41, of Waterville was arrested by state police detectives that day and charged with murder, police said.

Lowrie made his initial court appearance August 19 at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta.

An autopsy revealed the manner of death was a homicide and the cause of death was from sharp force injuries, according to police.

Police on Thursday said the “investigation remains active and ongoing.”
