A third person has been arrested as a result of an investigation into the killing of a Waldoboro man.

John Flower, 39, of Rockland has been charged with hindering the investigation, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

State police detectives arrested Flower Thursday at around 1:30 p.m., according to Moss. At the time, Flower was already in custody at Knox County Jail on unrelated charges.

Flower was scheduled to appear Friday in Knox County Superior Court.

Two other men have been charged as police investigate the death of Kyle MacDougall, 45, of Waldoboro. Police have not released the cause or manner of MacDougall’s death. 

Police were investigating a scene in Cushing July 12 and 13 at 834 River Road.

The first person arrested as a result of the investigation was Mark Gagne, 41, of Cushing. Gagne was arrested July 12 and charged with abuse of a corpse and hindering apprehension, according to Moss.

On July 16, Jason Hewett, 39, of Augusta, was arrested following an alleged police chase on Route 3 through China and Augusta and after an ensuing four-hour standoff, according to Moss.

Hewett was charged with eluding an officer, domestic assault and manslaughter.
